Why remove alpha?

Common reasons to flatten transparency

Some app stores do not allow app icons with alpha channels, so icons need a solid background before submission.
Many print workflows handle solid backgrounds more predictably than transparent artwork.
Transparent edges can look wrong on websites or apps with dark backgrounds if the image was designed for light surfaces.
Some platforms convert uploaded images and introduce ugly halos around transparent pixels.
JPG does not support transparency, so flattening first gives you control over how the final image will look.
Team members, clients, or downstream tools may need a simple image file that works everywhere without transparency support.

Images with alpha contain transparency information for each pixel. Fully transparent pixels disappear completely, while partially transparent pixels blend with whatever is behind them.

Removing alpha means replacing that transparency with a solid background color. In this tool, the image is drawn onto either a white or black background so every pixel becomes fully opaque.

Once the transparent pixels have been flattened onto a solid color, the output image no longer depends on transparency support and will display more consistently across apps, websites, export pipelines, and upload forms.
